Adopt a Firefighter:
For over 109 years Jewish National Fund (JNF) has played a pivotal role in establishing and supporting the land of Israel. Now you and your family can continue to support and protect our Jewish homeland with the “Adopt an Israeli Firefighter” Bar/Bat Mitzvah Project through The Friends of Israeli Firefighters, (FIF), a JNF partner.
In the Israeli town of Sderot, parents cannot send their children outside to play because of rockets launched from the nearby Gaza Strip. The town’s 3,000 children are forced to remain indoors rather than risk the chance that they won’t be able to reach a bomb shelter quickly enough during a rocket attack. To directly impact the lives of the children and provide them with the chance to simply be kids, JNF embarked on a massive project: building the largest indoor playground in Israel.
Therapeutic horseback riding has been widely used as a tool for improving the lives of people with disabilities. Individuals with almost any physical and/or emotional disability can benefit from therapeutic riding. JNF is raising funds for many of the riding centers in Israel, building facilities and providing scholarships for children from all nationalities and walks of life.
The Negev population suffers from a shortage of medical, therapeutic and special education services. JNF has partnered with Aleh Negev, an organization that provides children with severe cognitive and physical disabilities with high-level medical and rehabilitative care to complete the building of a state-of-the-art communal Rehabilitative Village. Located in Ofakim, it will provide much-needed services and jobs to the area.
Baseball embodies ideals such as patience and sportsmanship. Value is placed on the individual, whether alone on the pitcher’s mound or with all eyes centered on the lonely hitter in the batter’s box. The growth of baseball in Israel has been hindered by a severe shortage of baseball fields. Contributing to Project: Baseball makes you a partner in supporting the campaign to provide baseball fields to those in Israel who wish to play the sport.
The wall allows B’nai Mitzvah children to link their names to a child who perished in the Holocaust and continue the circle of life. Proceeds will go towards developing, maintaining and advancing JNF-KKL’s five Israel campsites, to be used by Israeli children for camping experiences.
Help fight the severe water crisis in Israel and make the Negev flourish. The Essence of Life Campaign is building a recreation area and water reclamation project at the Ramon Air Force Base near Mitzpeh Ramon in southern Israel. By participating in this project, you will have a direct impact on the quality of life of the soldiers defending Israel and their families.
Trees for Israel:
Israel is one of only two countries in the world that entered the 21st century with a net gain in its number of trees. But Israel was not blessed with natural forests; its forests are all hand-planted. When the pioneers of the State arrived, they were greeted by barren land. To claim the land that had been purchased with the coins collected in JNF blue and white pushkes, the next order of business was to plant trees among the rocky hillsides and sandy soil.
